My Friend Lee

I will always remember Lee as a caring, happy, positive man I had the privilege to know.

We met when we were working at ITV Digital in Pembroke Dock. We bonded over our shared dislike of the job, but soon became great friends. We used to sit by the waterfront in Pembroke Dock, eating our chip butties together at lunchtime. Simple times, but I recall these fondly.

Lee was such an easy going likeable character. He would come to visit my parents and I, sometimes visiting my parents if I wasn't home. One day he called in and said, 'I'm making a cup of tea - does anyone else want one?' - he was a part of the family.

Lee and I shared a dry sense of humour - we often laughed about things that no one else would even understand!

Lee and Ana kindly invited me to join them at the V-Festival, the first festival I have ever been to. We had a wonderful time, seems so long ago now, back in 2000.We had such a great time, watching our favourite bands.

Time passes, Ana and Lee were married on a beautiful sunny day in Portugal, with their family and friends there to bless them with their love. I am privileged to say that I was there to watch them exchange their vows and share this happy moment with them. Both their families were so warm and welcoming.

As time went on, as often seems to happen, we slowly lost touch. I was surprised and pleased when I bumped into him last year randomly, at a Cross Country event which we were both at, cheering on our children. Lee tapped me on the back and said hiya, as if we had last spoken only days before.

It was clear to see how much he loved his children and he spoke of them and Ana with all the love in the world, his face lit up when he talked about them. I will always remember Lee to be a man full of compassion, and energy.

He will be sadly missed but I am sure he would hold a special place in the hearts of everyone he knew. I am sad to have lost my friend, but I am grateful for all the special times and memories the we were fortunate enough to have shared.

So long Lee my friend,

Jeremy
